HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's basketball team signed shooting guard Ezekiel Charles (Brooklyn, N.Y./Lincoln HS/Barton Community College) and power forward Milos Supica (Belgrade, Serbia/Freedom Christian (N.C.) Academy) to national letters of intent during the fall signing period, it was announced by Head Coach Tom Moore.
Charles is currently averaging 19.0 points on 54 percent shooting for Barton, one of the most perennially successful junior colleges in the country. He helped the Cougars out to a 10-0 start this season, including 30 points on 10-12 shooting (7-9 from three) on opening day. He averaged 11.2 points and 6.0 rebounds in his first season at Barton, after a successful scholastic career at Lincoln High School in Brooklyn, where he averaged 13 points and nine rebounds as a senior. Charles played in the shadow of current NBA player Isaiah Whitehead as a junior, but blossomed as a senior, earning second-team All-Brooklyn honors from the New York Daily News.
"I am thrilled to be adding Ezekiel Charles to our Quinnipiac Basketball family," said Moore. "He has great size for a guard and has such a versatile perimeter game. He can shoot, handle, pass, defend, and rebound at a high level. I also feel he has great leadership possibilities due to his poise on the floor. He has been tested at the highest level of high school ball coming from Abraham Lincoln and the highest level of Junior College ball at Barton Community College in Kansas."
Supica came over from his native Serbia to attend Freedom Christian Academy in Fayetteville, North Carolina in 2015-16. As a junior last year, he was a first-team all-conference selection and honorable mention all-state honoree after averaging 15 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks per game, while leading his team to its first ever North Carolina Independent Schools Athletic Association Final Four. He has gotten off to a strong senior year as well, recently putting up 31 points and 10 rebounds in a game at the Millbrook Winter Showcase. He was ranked among the top 25 recruits in North Carolina by the Charlotte Observer, and plays AAU basketball with Upward Stars in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
"I am very happy to have Milos Supica joining our program next year," said Moore. "Milos is a great combination of size, strength, and skill and he can have an immediate impact on our frontcourt. He has good hands to go with a nice shooting touch and a willingness to play physical inside. He has been a major contributor to highly successful teams at Freedom Christian and we all feel he will fit in well here."
Charles and Supica will help Quinnipiac fill the voids left by graduating seniors Daniel Harris and Donovan Smith, who are regulars in the team's backcourt and frontcourt rotations, respectively.
