
QU Volleyball Places League-High Nine Players On MAAC All-Academic Team

FAIRFIELD, Conn. - The Quinnipiac volleyball team placed a league-leading nine players on the MAAC All-Academic team, it was announced this evening at the league's annual awards banquet.
To be eligible for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must complete two semesters at their institution and hold a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 on a 4.0 scale. Quinnipiac's nine honorees edged out Manhattan College and Marist College with student-athletes on the All-Academic Team. Fairfield University had seven student-athletes, while Canisius College, Iona College, and Rider University each added six.
The Bobcats senior class, including graduate student Jana Kmec (Stratford, Conn.) had six honorees, as the class combined to average a 3.53 cumulative GPA in addition to leading the team to a 19-12 record this season. Allison Leigh (Palmer, Alaska), Cody Michaels (Versailles, Ky.), Emma Ogden (Crown Point, Ind.), Jaime Paolucci (Lake Mary, Fla.) and Katie Urycki (Chesterton, Ind.) joined Kmec on the MAAC All-Academic team. Junior Elizabeth Kloos (Munster, Ind.) was also honored, along with sophomores Jen Coffey (Merrimack, N.H.) and Claire Knust (Omaha, Neb.).
Quinnipiac opens play at the 2016 MAAC Tournament on Friday evening, when the third-seeded Bobcats face sixth-seeded Niagara at Fairfield University in the opening round for the right to move on to Saturday's semifinals.
