
QU Men's Tennis Sweeps Sacred Heart 7-0 for Fourth Sweep of 2014-15 Season

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team picked up its fourth sweep of the season Wednesday afternoon as they cruised to a 7-0 win over the Sacred Heart Pioneers at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
It was the first match for the Bobcats in Hamden since a 5-2 win against the Hartford Hawks on Sept. 23, 2014. The Bobcats improved to 6-7 (2-0 MAAC) this season with the victory while the Pioneers drop to 3-9 (0-1 NEC) with the 7-0 loss.
Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California), Eric Ambrosio (Lloyd Harbor, New York) and Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) each cruised to two victories in the match. Ezaka and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) teamed up for their fourth consecutive doubles victory as they improved to 4-0 when playing together this season.
Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New York) set a new career-high for singles wins in a season with his 16th victory as he also won his 70th career match.
The Bobcats took the doubles point early in the match after winning the first two matches of the day. Ambrosio and van Biezen were the first match done as they cruised past Francisco Del Valle and Karan Narula 8-3 for the win. Finishing not too long after the No. 3 match was Ezaka and Haraguchi at No. 2 doubles as they held on to defeat Justin Pagan and Anthony Savio, 8-6.
Matt Dean and Brian Power recorded the only win of the match for the Pioneers as they defeated Roser and Jonas Kuwert (Jesteberg, Germany) 8-3 in the No. 1 doubles match.
The singles matches were dominated by the Bobcats as four of the six matches finished with straight set victories. Ezaka faced off with Pagan at No. 1 singles and limited his opponent in the first set before doubling him up in the second set, 6-1, 6-3. Ambrosio competed at No. 2 singles against Mathieu Pilote and fended off the Pioneer, 6-3, 6-2. At No. 3 singles, Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) continued the winning trend for the Bobcats as he defeated Dean 6-1, 6-4 for his 28th victory of the season, good for second on the team to Ezaka. The last straight set victory of the match was won by van Biezen at No. 6 singles as he knocked off Savio, 6-2, 6-2.
Kyle Alper (Dix Hills, New York) won his match in two sets with a tiebreaker after the second set, which he dominated Narula 6-3, 7-6 (1) to pick up his 18th singles victory and 24th win overall. Roser finished off the match for the Bobcats with a grueling match against Power at No. 4 singles. After jumping out to a quick first set win, Roser lost the second set in a tiebreaker and came through in the third set to complete the sweep, 6-0, 6-7 (4), 10-7.

The Quinnipiac men's tennis team will have a quick turnaround as they hit the courts for the second time in as many days as they face conference foe Fairfield at 2 P.M. at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts for their third MAAC match of the season.
