Yale scored twice in the first three minutes as Kerri Fleishhacker and Christina Doherty gave the Bulldogs an early lead, 2-0. Quinnipiac's Carey potted the first of back-to-back free position shots to cut the Bulldogs lead in half before Fountain on the second just 34 seconds later.

Ochwat's goal with 6:17 to play in the first half was her third of the year while Devito's first goal of the year made it 8-4. Last season, DeVito was one of six Quinnipiac players to reach double-digits in goals with 11 for the year. Yale's Hope Hanley pushed the Bulldogs' lead back to five goals, 9-4, with just under four minutes to play.
Quinnipiac senior captain Kuhn scored 25 seconds into the second half to put the Bobcats on the board early in the final frame. With the Bobcats moving to within four goals, 9-5, Yale responded with nine unanswered goals to take an 18-5 lead with 16 minutes to play in the game.
Quinnipiac and Yale remained scoreless for most of the remaining time before Ochwat scored her second of the game and fourth of the year with 1:50 to play in regulation.
