
Quinnipiac Men's Ice Hockey's Michael Garteig Named ECAC Hockey Goalie Of The Week

Quinnipiac men's ice hockey junior Michael Garteig (Prince George, British Columbia) was named the ECAC Hockey Goalie of the Week on Tuesday, Feb. 10. The award is Garteig's third of the 2014-15 season.
Garteig previously earned the honor on Nov. 11, 2014 and Dec. 30, 2014. He also earned five weekly honors as a sophomore in 2013-14. As a team, it is the 10th time this season that Quinnipiac has been honored by ECAC Hockey with a weekly award, while Garteig also earned monthly honors in December.
For the week, Garteig was 2-0-0 with a 0.99 goals-against average and a .962 save percentage as Quinnipiac swept a weekend series at Cornell on Friday, Feb. 6 and No. 20 Colgate on Saturday, Feb. 7. Garteig's 20-save shutout against Cornell in a 1-0 on Friday night was his NCAA Division I leading fifth shutout of the season while his 11th career clean sheet broke Quinnipiac's career record.He followed a historic Friday night game with a 31-save performance in a 4-2 win at No. 20 Colgate on Saturday.
For the year, Garteig is 17-6-1 with a 2.03 GAA and a .914 save percentage. Of the four ECAC Hockey goals to start 16 games to date, Garteig leads all in wins (13), winning percentage (.833), GAA (1.55), shutouts (5) and is second in save percentage (.934).
