
Former QU Women’s Ice Hockey Players Shiann Darkangelo and Erica Uden Johansson Shine at Four Nations Cup

SUNDSVALL, Sweden – Former Quinnipiac women's ice hockey forward Shiann Darkangelo and the United States Women's Hockey Senior National Team won the gold medal at the Four Nations Cup while her former teammate Erica Uden Johansson scored three goals in the tournament for the Swedish National Team.
The United States overcame a 2-1 deficit in the gold medal game on Sunday to defeat Canada, 3-2 in overtime. Hilary Knight scored the game-winning goal 36 seconds into overtime to give Darkangelo and the United States their first gold medal at the Four Nations Cup since 2012 and sixth overall.
In the tournament, Darkangelo picked up an assist in a 3-0 victory over Canada in the preliminary round when she assisted Monique Lamoureux's game-winning goal. Darkangelo's current teammate with the NWHL's Connecticut Whale Kelli Stack also picked up an assist with Darkangelo on the goal.
The United States did not lose a single game in the Four Nations Cup this season, going a perfect 4-0 and outscoring their counterparts, 19-4.
Despite Sweden falling in the bronze medal game to Finland, 3-2, Uden Johansson played a fantastic tournament with three goals scored for her most goals in a single tournament with the Swedish National Team.
In the bronze medal game on Sunday, Uden Johansson scored a pair of goals to overcome Finland's 2-0 lead and tie the game for Sweden. Uden Johansson's first goal came with just 1:06 left in the second period before scoring her second goal of the game 3:37 into the third period.
Earlier in the tournament, Uden Johansson also scored another goal against Finland in the preliminary round for her first goal of the tournament. That goal also tied the game against Finland before Sweden fell, 3-1. With three goals, Uden Johansson tied with Canada's Natalie Spooner and the United States' Brianna Decker for the third most goals by a single player in the tournament.
Sweden lost all four games in the tournament with Uden Johansson scoring three of the six goals for her country.
Darkangelo returns to hockey action on Nov. 15 at 3:30 P.M. when the Connecticut Whale travel to Buffalo, New York to face the Buffalo Beauts at HarborCenter while Uden Johansson returns to the ice on Wednesday, Nov. 11 when her Sundsvall Wildcats take on SDE Hockey at 7:30 P.M. Local Time.
The Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team returns to the ice next weekend when they will take on their travel partner Princeton with a home and home series. The Bobcats will host the Tigers on Friday, Nov. 13 at High Point Solutions Arena at 3 P.M. before traveling to Princeton, N.J. to face the Tigers at Hobey Baker Rink on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 3 P.M.
