
QU Men's Tennis Wins Second Straight Match with 7-0 Win Over Rider

LAWRENCEVILLE, New Jersey – The Quinnipiac men's tennis team continued its strong performance on the court Sunday afternoon to pick up its second straight victory with a 7-0 win over the Rider Broncs.
The Bobcats (2-0, 1-0) earned their first MAAC win of the season with the win over the Broncs (1-6, 1-2) who fell after winning their first match of the season on Saturday against Siena.
Sophomore Julian Rozenstein (Marlboro, New Jersey) picked up his 50th career victory and 30th career singles win with a victory today for the Bobcats. Kei Ezaka (Ojai, California) also reached a career milestone as she won his 80th career match today, with 41 wins coming in singles and 39 in doubles.
Overall, five different Quinnipiac men's tennis players won two matches on Sunday afternoon.
Action started off with doubles as the Bobcats swept the doubles point with all three matches. Willem van Biezen (Warmond, The Netherlands) and Ryoma Haraguchi (New York, New York) played together in a match for just the second time in their careers and came up with a strong 6-1 victory to finish first at No. 3 doubles over Adam Levi and Ryan Ciaccio. Ezaka and Kyle Alper (Diix Hills, New York) played together for the straight day and clinched the doubles point for the Bobcats, defeating Brandon Gildea and Jeremy Van Herwarde, 6-3. Luke Roser (Bernardsville, New Jersey) and Freddie Zaretsky (Fair Lawn, New Jersey) have been solid all season long, defeating Chris Popso and Diego Delgado.
In singles play, Rozenstein was the first match completed on the afternoon, dropping just one game as he won 6-1, 6-0 over Levi at No. 3 singles. Zaretsky continued to play well in his impressive freshmen season, defeating Popso, 6-2, 6-1 in straight sets as the No. 2 singles player. At No. 1 singles, Ezaka played the only three-set match of the afternoon but after dropping the first set, recovered well to defeat Delgado, 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. In the final three singles matches of the afternoon, the Bobcats continued to set down their opponents. At No. 4 singles, van Biezen fell in only one game, defeating Gildea, 6-1, 6-0. Alper continued to play well in singles for the Bobcats as he faced Van Herwarde in No. 5 singles action, winning 6-2, 6-1. Roser finished up the day on the courts for the Bobcats as he played at No. 6 singles against Ciaccio, picking up a strong 6-3, 6-2 win.
The Quinnipiac men's tennis team has five days off before returning to action next weekend with a road match at the Hartford Hawks on Friday, Oct. 16 at 4 P.M. before hosting the Saint Peter's Peacocks on Saturday, Oct. 17 at 12 P.M. at the QU Outdoor Tennis Courts.
