
No. 3/4 QU Women's Ice Hockey Falls to No. 7/6 Boston University, 4-1

BOSTON, Massachusetts – The No. 3/4 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team fell to the No. 7/6 Boston University Terriers, 4-1, for just its second loss of the season Wednesday night at Walter Brown Arena.
Quinnipiac's overall record drops to 20-2-3 on the season while Boston University's improves to 15-5-2.
Nicole Kosta (Mississauga, Ontario) scored her sixth goal of the season for the Bobcats as the only tally of the night. Kosta's goal extends her point streak to three consecutive games and two straight with a goal.
Defensemen Alicia Barry (Hanson, Massachusetts) and Kristen Tamberg (North Toronto, Ontario) each recorded assists on Kosta's goal. Tamberg's was her 11th assist of the season while Barry recorded her second assist. Tamberg has now recorded an assist in five of the last six games for the Bobcats.
Marie-Philip Poulin and Kayla Tutino each had three-point nights for the Terriers, with each scoring one goal and recording two assists. Sarah Lefort and Victoria Bach also netted goals for Boston University in their victory.
Chelsea Laden (Lakeville Minnesota) allowed four goals in a game for just the second time this season as she made 22 saves while her counterpart Victoria Hanson made 21 saves in the victory for the Terriers.
For just the second time this season, the Bobcats allowed the first goal of the game as the Terriers took a 1-0 with 14:34 remaining in the first period. Jordan Juron received a pass off the glass in the neutral zone and bumped the puck up to Rebecca Leslie. Leslie carried the puck into the offensive zone where she dropped a pass for Bach who brought the puck from her backhand to her forehand to get around Lindsey West (Ajax, Ontario) and wrist the shot past Laden.
Late in the first period period, Boston University scored once again to take 2-0 lead on Quinnipiac, the first time the Bobcats trailed by two goals in a game. After coincidental penalties on Meghan Turner (Bedford, New Hampshire) and Lillian Ribeirinha-Braga, Taylar Cianfarano (Oswego, New York) went to the penalty box to make it 4 on 3. Boston University controlled the puck and worked it around the offensive zone as Shannon Doyle found Poulin on the wing from the point. Poulin fired a centering feed through the slot and found Tutino wide open on the weak side to one-time the puck into the net.
After a scoreless second period, the Terriers took a 3-0 lead 37 seconds into the third period on Lefort's 15th goal of the season. Poulin skated into the offensive zone on the left side and faked a shot before passing to Lefort coming down the slot. Lefort's initial shot was saved by Laden but the rebound kicked out to Lefort where she put the puck back home.
Kosta put the Bobcats on the board just 26 seconds later to make it 3-1. Barry had her shot from the point blocked and chased the puck down in the neutral zone. Tamberg received a pass along the red line before passing the puck to Kosta off the left boards on the blue line. Kosta raced in on net a buried a shot past Hanson.
The Terriers struck once more in the third period with 11:32 remaining in the game on Poulin's third point of the night and first goal. Alexis Woloschuk wrap the puck around the boards behind the net where Tutino collected the puck. Tutino then found Poulin with a pass and Poulin skated around the net to Laden's glove side where she snuck a shot between Laden's shoulder and the post for a goal.
Quinnipiac returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 24 when they will face the top-ranked Boston College Eagles at Conte Forum in Chestnut Hill, Massachusetts at 2 P.M.
