QU Women's Tennis Knocks Off Sacred Heart, 5-2

Fairfield, Connecticut – The Quinnipiac women's tennis team earned its second victory in a row this fall as they defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers, 5-2, in Fairfield, Connecticut Wednesday afternoon.
Quinnipiac started off the day strong as they won two of the three singles matches to take the doubles point.
Michelle Dassa (Marlboro, New Jersey) and Jacqueline Raynor (Garden City, New York) moved up to No. 1 doubles for the match with Sacred Heart and picked up right where they left off as they cruised to the win over Katie DeRienza and Lindsey Post, 8-2
Sophia Dzulynsky (Miramar, Florida) and Sydney Young (Austin, Texas) secured the doubles point for the Bobcats when they topped Paige Olson and Sabrina Navarro Lopez, 8-4.
In No. 3 doubles, Ariana Launie (Milton, Massachusetts) and Sitilia Rencheli (Sarasota, Florida) were well on their way to finishing the doubles sweep but they were forced to retire and end the match. Taylor Gurda and Emma Pezzullo took the match, 4-6 (ret.)
Singles was much of the same for the Bobcats as they continued their winning ways by taking four of the six matches.
Raynor, once again, played well at No. 2 doubles for the Bobcats as she secured yet another career win defeating Post for the second time in the match, 6-4, 7-5.
Rencheli took on Olson in singles defeat a first set challenge; Rencheli ultimately came away with the victory, 7-5, 6-2.
In No. 4 singles, Young continued to shine for the Bobcats as she pulled away with the quick, two set win over Gurda, 6-4, 6-1.
Dassa had the longest battle of the afternoon for the Bobcats she competed in the only match that went to three sets where she ultimately prevailed over Pezzullo, 1-6, 7-6 (3), 11-9, to secure the fifth and final win over the day.
Two other Bobcats were in action in singles but they were unable to come away with wins. Sophia Dzulynsky took on the challenging Katie DeRienza and lost in two sets, 6-2, 6-1. At No. 6 singles, Nicole Keklik (Stratford, Connecticut) filled in for Launie, but lost to Navarro Lopez, 6-0, 6-0.

The Bobcats return to action on Saturday when they host MAAC opponent Rider in their final dual match of the season starting at 1:00 P.M.
