WEST POINT, N.Y. - The Quinnipiac University baseball team lost to Army, 12-0, in a non-conference game played at Doubleday Field in West Point, N.Y. The loss drops Quinnipiac to 7-6 on the year while Army improves to 6-11 overall.

The win was Army's fifth in their last six games while Quinnipiac's three-game winning streak comes to an end. Mickey Amanti (Waterford, Conn.) had three of Quinnipiac's five hits in the game. The senior shortstop turned in his sixth multiple-hit game of the season, and first three-hit effort of the year, with a 3-for-4 showing out of the lead-off spot against the Black Knights. Amanti's three hits give him 158 for his career, moving him into a tie for 18th all-time at Quinnipiac, and 15th at the Division I level, with Ricky Coppola '05.Chris Migani (Orange, Conn.) was 1-for-4 with a double while freshman Chris Caldari (Plainview, N.Y.) was 1-for-3.

Spencer Kane (Wolcott, Conn.) took the loss on the mound for the Bobcats for his first decision of the year. The sophomore hurler gave up eight runs - six earned - on seven hits in 1 1/3 innings pitched. Neil Mammele (Madison, Conn.) was touched for three runs over 2 2/3. Kevin Castodio (Pawcatuck, Conn.), Kevin Adler (Marietta, Ga.) and Matthew Siciliano (Ardmore, Pa.) pitched the final four innings. Castodio and Siciliano held Army scoreless, with Castodio giving up a hit and striking two batters out, while Adler gave up one earned run.

Quinnipiac is back in action this weekend with a four-game Northeast Conference series against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. Quinnipiac will play a nine-inning game at 3 p.m. on Friday, March 25, followed by a pair of seven-inning games starting at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 26, before concluding the series on Sunday, March 27 at 1 p.m. with a nine-inning game.
