In only three years on the baseball team, Bob “Bru” Bruzik became Quinnipiac’s all-time career leader in hits, doubles, stolen bases and slugging percentage, and second in batting average and triples. A first team AllNew England selection, Bruzik also set the single-season records for hits, doubles and stolen bases.
Voted MVP his senior year, “Bru” led Quinnipiac to its only Division II regional baseball title and was named the MVP after setting regional tournament records for total bases (28), runs scored (10), triples (3), and fielding percentage (1.000, 35–35) and single-game records for total bases (14) and runs (5). Capping his senior year he went 5 for 10 (3 doubles) in the school’s only appearance at the NCAA College World Series.
Bob was drafted by the Seattle Mariners in 1983.
