Quinnipiac University women's basketball Head Coach Tricia Fabbri announced the addition of alumnae Cur'Tiera Haywood '23 as an assistant coach on Friday, July 19th. Haywood enters her second season on the coaching staff in 2025-26.
"I am super grateful and honored for this opportunity to be a part of this amazing staff," Haywood said. "It feels so good being back at the place that helped build and shape my life and college basketball career. My excitement to be a bobcat again is unmatched!" – Haywood on being named an Assistant Coach
In her first season on the staff, Haywood assisted the Bobcats to their best start in program history, winning 15 of their first 16 games. Quinnipiac went on to finish the season with a 28-5 overall record and an 18-2 conference record. The 18 MAAC wins were the program’s most wins in conference play since the 2018-19 season. The Bobcats defeated the Iona Gaels in the MAAC Quarterfinals and downed the Merrimack Warriors in the MAAC Semifinal to reach the MAAC Title game for the first time since 2019. Despite a loss in the Championship game, the Bobcats earned the program’s first invite to the WBIT.
Haywood saw first-year Gal Raviv earn both the MAAC Player of the Year and MAAC Rookie of the Year awards, the first time a player (men’s or women’s) has won both of those awards in the same season in league history. Raviv was also named to the All-MAAC First Team and All-Rookie Team. Anna Foley earned All-MAAC Second Team honors for the second straight season, and Jackie Grisdale was named to the All-MAAC Third Team.
Before returning to Quinnipiac, Haywood played her graduate season at Austin Peay University in Clarksville, Tennessee. Haywood started all 33 games for the Governors while averaging 8.2 points per game, 3.6 rebounds per game, and 1.0 assists per game. Haywood dropped a season-high 18 points against Fisk (12/14) on 75% shooting (6-for-8) from the field. Haywood led the team in free-throw percentage (.794) and three-pointers made (38) while being one of two players to start all 33 games.
Before heading to Austin Peay, Haywood had a four-year career in Hamden. In her senior season, Haywood earned All-MAAC third-team honors after averaging career highs of 10.0 points per game, 5.2 rebounds per game, and 1.2 assists per game in 30 starts. Haywood led the team with 10.0 ppg and ranked ninth in the MAAC by shooting 34.1% from beyond the arc.
As a junior, Haywood appeared in 27 games and made 15 starts for the Bobcats. She averaged 8.1 points per game and 3.8 rebounds per game. Haywood ranked third in the MAAC in field goal percentage (48.7%) and sixth in three-point percentage (35.3%). She knocked down 24 threes in the season, which was good for the fourth most on the squad.
Haywood averaged 18.6 minutes per game in her sophomore season while averaging 4.1 points per game. A year prior, Haywood earned MAAC All-Rookie team honors after an impressive first year. She appeared in 29 games (17 starts) and averaged 7.8 points per game and 3.7 rebounds per game. Haywood had a career game against Canisius (1/18/20), scoring 19 points in 36 minutes and shooting 7-for-11 from the field and 3-for-4 from three-point range.
