Casey Stark was announced as the Assistant Athletic Director for Academic Support on Oct. 30, 2017. In her role, Stark provides academic support, mentoring and guidance for Quinnipiac’s men’s and women’s basketball programs as well as men’s ice hockey. Stark also serves as advisor to Quinnipiac Student-Athlete Advisory Committee and coordinates transfer eligibility evaluations across all sports for the department.
Stark comes to Quinnipiac from the University of Massachusetts. At UMass she held the position of Senior Assistant Director of Academic Success where she advised the men’s basketball and softball programs and planned select student-athlete development programs. At UMass, she also held the title of Assistant Director/Director of Learning Enhancement Program where she provided leadership, academic oversight, and programmatic enhancement to learning support for roughly 150 student-athletes with disabilities and/or deemed academically at-risk. In that role, Stark produced a 54% increase in one-on-one support for high risk student-athletes over her tenure.
Stark also developed programs to increase communication between UMass Athletics’ Office of Academic Success and the university’s faculty and also served as an adjunct professor in a first year experience course each year. She also trained the assistant director/learning specialist and tutor coordinator and oversaw a tutoring program for 650 student-athletes. For her efforts, Stark was instrumental in increasing the men’s basketball’s four-year average APR of 962 in 2013-14 to 1,000 in 2015-16. She also served as an academic counselor for the women’s tennis team that received three Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team honors, highlighted by 19 ITA Scholar Athletes.
Prior to UMass, she served as the Interim Assistant Director of Student Athlete Services at Bowling Green State University where she served as academic coordinator to over 170 student-athletes across 11 teams and coordinated student-athlete development programming for community service, career development, personal development, and academic development. She also facilitated recruit meetings and new student summer orientation sessions for incoming student-athletes and parents.
Stark has been an active member of the National Association of Academic and Student-Athlete Development Professionals (N4A) since 2012, serving on the Learning Concerns Enhancement and Model Practices Committees, as well as the Corporate Sponsorship Working Group. In July 2017, Stark was named an Academic Integrity Assessment Consultant for the N4A, part of a select group who assists peer institutions in programmatic reviews of academic integrity policies and practices. Stark is a 2015 graduate of the N4A's Professional Development Institute - Learning Specialist Track, a 2016 graduate of the Women Leaders in College Sports (formerly NACWAA) Institute for Administrative Advancement, and was selected to participate in the 2019-2020 DI-AAA Athletic Director’s Association Mentorship Program and the 2022 Women Leaders in College Sports Leadership Enhancement Institute. Outside of her role at Quinnipiac, Stark serves as President of Central CT Chapter of LPGA Amateurs and the Board of Directors for Central Connecticut Coast YMCA.
Stark graduated with a bachelor’s degree in learning behavioral specialist and elementary education from Bradley University and a master’s degree in college student personnel from Bowling Green. Stark also holds certification in Mental Health First Aid from the National Council for Behavioral Health and a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Certificate from Muma College of Business at the University of South Florida.
