Bobcats Defeat Cornell By 21 for Fifth Win of the Year

ITHACA, N.Y. – For the fourth time this season, the Quinnipiac women's basketball team defeated their opponent by 20+ points as they defeated the Cornell Big Red, 68-47, on Saturday afternoon in Ithaca.
Jackie Grisdale led the Bobcats in scoring as she dropped 25 points on 9-for-14 (64.3%) shooting from the floor. Grisdale knocked down seven three-pointers in the win, tying QU's Division I record for made threes in a single game, which she set last year in the win over Harvard. Ella O'Donnell set a new season-high with 19 points on 9-for-16 (56.3%) shooting from the floor. Sydney Ryan reached double figures for the fifth time this season, scoring 11 points in the win.

Ella O'Donnell gave the Bobcats the early 2-0 lead just 25 seconds into the game, and the Bobcats never looked back. Ella O'Donnell and Ella Ryan combined for all of Quinnipiac's 12 points as the Bobcats led 12-3 as Cornell used an early timeout. Out of the break, Cornell cut down on the deficit as Quinnipiac ended the first quarter with an 18-13 lead.
Cornell kept the distance within five early into the second quarter before Jackie Grisdale caught fire, going 4-for-5 from three in just 2:10 to push Quinnipiac's lead to 17. After Cornell called a timeout, the scoring slowed down, but Jackie Grisdale knocked down her fifth three of the quarter to give Quinnipiac an 18-point lead at the half.
Cornell cut into the Bobcats' lead to open up the third quarter, dropping it to a ten-point deficit halfway through the quarter. A 6-0 run out of the media timeout for the Bobcats forced the Big Red to call a timeout as QU's lead grew to twenty to end the quarter.
The final quarter was the lowest scoring quarter of the game as Quinnipiac outscored Cornell 11-10 to seal the 69-48 win and improve to 5-3 on the season.
