Quinnipiac Clinches #3 Seed for ECAC Playoffs
HAMDEN, Conn. – The No. 7 Quinnipiac women's ice hockey team secured its highest ECAC seeding in a decade with a dramatic 4-3 overtime victory over Yale on Saturday afternoon.
The Bulldogs struck first, scoring back-to-back goals midway through the first period.
Peyton Cormier pulled the Bobcats within one in the second period, netting her third goal of the season.
Yale extended their lead midway through the third, making it 3-1.
Quinnipiac looking to answer back pulled the goaltender with under three minutes remaining in regulation.
With 1:02 left on the clock, Kahlen Lamarche buried her fifth goal in three games and 35th of the season to cut the deficit to one again.
Aynsley D'Ottavio delivered the game-tying goal with 25 seconds remaining, sending the game into overtime.
Lamarche continued her offensive stretch in the extra frame, scoring the game-winning goal on a breakaway, her seventh game-winner of the season.
Felicia Frank made 34 saves, earning her 24th win of the year.
