LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. — Alessandra Zaffina set a new MAAC record, one of two on the day for the Quinnipiac women's outdoor track and field program, and Sierra Gray capped the day with a silver in the 10k on Day 1 of the 2025 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Rider University.
Zaffina continued her reign in the steeplechase, earning the gold medal in her fourth consecutive appearance in the event and did so in style with a MAAC-record time of 10:21.05 to earn the top spot at the podium.
Gray led for most of the race in the 10k final but was bested with just five laps to go by Rider's Grace Medei but the junior was still able to comfortably find the podium en route to a silver medal in her second consecutive conference championship meet.
Qualification highlights included Nyasia Dailey, who broke the MAAC record in the 100m with a sprint of 11.74, besting the previous mark by 0.04 and was the only sprinter to go sub-11.8 in her qualifying time.
Michelle Tota and Sydney Lavelle carried the flag during qualifying, with each grabbing a spot in two individual track finals on Sunday.
