Bobcats Sweep Tennis Weekly Awards

EDISON, NJ – First year students Elias Hoxha and Willow Renton were each named MAAC Tennis Player of the Week as announced by the league office on Wednesday afternoon.
Both players combined to go 7-0 in their matches against Mount and Sacred Heart. It is Hoxha's first player of the week nod and Renton's third of the season as each player helped push their respesctive Bobcat squad to 7-0 in MAAC play entering their match ups with Fairfield tomorrow.
Hoxha went 3-0 between singles and doubles, staying undefeated at 7-0 in singles. On Saturday, Hoxha defeated Mount's Evans 6-2, 6-2 at No. 4 singles after teaming up with Alex Yang to win their No. 2 doubles match over Mount 6-3. Against Sacred Heart, Hoxha won his No. 4 singles match in three sets, 6-1, 2-6, 6-2 and his doubles match went unfinished as the Bobcats had clinched the doubles point.
Renton improved upon her 9-1 MAAC record, winning all four of her matches this weekend. She first teamed up with Caitlin Flower at No. 1 doubles on Saturday against Mount, winning 6-2. She dominated at No. 1 singles to defeat Mount's Tang 6-2, 6-0. Against Sacred Heart, she won her No. 1 doubles match with Flower 6-2 before coming from behind in her No. 1 singles match to defeat SHU's Bartyzel 3-6, 6-0, 6-3.
The Bobcats are back in action tomorrow at Fairfield University to wrap up the regular season. The women's team will face Fairfield at 11:00 AM and then the men will play at 3:00 PM.
