HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless opening inning, the Warriors got on the board first with a one-run single in the top of the second inning.
The Bobcats would respond in their half of the third inning as Sebastian Mueller doubled down the left field line to score McCulloch and Garbowski and give the Bobcats a 2-1 lead.
Merrimack took the lead right back in the fourth inning as a three-run home run gave them a 4-2 lead. Quinnipiac would respond in the fifth inning with four runs to regain the lead. Johnny Knox got the scoring going as he blasted a three-run home run to deep left field, giving the Bobcats a 5-4 lead. Kyle Garbowski would add on as he singled to score James Marino to give them a two-run lead.
In the sixth inning, Christian Smith added another run for the Bobcats with an RBI double to make it a three-run game.
With a runner on in the eighth inning, CJ Willis tripled down the right-field line to give Quinnipiac a four-run advantage.
NEWS AND NOTES
- Seven Bobcats recorded at least one hit in the win and five of the seven recorded multiple hits to power Quinnipiac past the Warriors.
- Johnny Knox led the offense with three RBIs and went 2-for-4 at the plate.
- Knox hit his fourth home run of the season with his three-run home run in the fifth inning.
- Sebastian Mueller drove in two runs, the eighth time this season he has driven in multiple runs in the same game.
- Kyle Garbowski picked up three hits in five at-bats to push his batting average to .338.
- CJ Willis picked up two hits to push his hit streak to seven games.
- Sean McCulloch extended his on-base streak to 32 games and has reached base safely in 32 of 33 games he has played this season.
- The Bobcats will welcome the Yale Bulldogs to Hamden on Tuesday, April 15th with the first pitch scheduled for 3 PM.
