USAFA, Colo. – Quinnipiac Men's Lacrosse is ready for its fourth contest of the 2025 season on Friday at 2:00 PM ET, as the Bobcats begin the road trip to Colorado with a contest at Air Force.
LAST TIME OUT: HOME OPENER vs. BRYANT (2/22)
- QU dropped a non-conference contest vs. Bryant by the final score of 18-10 on Saturday afternoon in Hamden.
- Justin Robbert, Owen Murray, and Frank Mousa all scored twice for the Bobcats' in their 2025 home opener. Seven different Bobcats scored a goal.
- Mason Oak made 15 more saves in front of the cage.
- Quinnipiac Men's Lacrosse dropped a non-conference matchup at St. John's by the final score of 15-9 on Tuesday afternoon.
- Preseason MAAC Player of the Year Mason Oak made 16 more saves in between the pipes for the Bobcats.
- Johnny Karafa and Jake Gallose each scored twice for QU, while Cole Marsala chipped in with a goal and two assists of his own.
- Quinnipiac kicked off the 2025 campaign on Friday afternoon at UMass, falling by the final score of 19-5.
- Goalie Mason Oak made 17 saves for the Bobcats, while Nate Watson paced the team offensively with two goals and two assists.
- Justin Robbert, Cole Marsala, and Trevor Douglas each added a goal of their own.
- Jake Gallose also picked up an assist for QU.
- Ryan Downing led the Bobcats with four caused turnovers.
- MAAC Defensive Player of the Year/USA Lacrosse All-American Mason Oak returns to help anchor the Bobcats' defensive unit. The goalie finished second in the entire country in saves per game (15.43) and ranked fourth in save percentage (58.7%) in 2024. The junior made 216 total saves and allowed just 152 goals during 14 contests. Oak made 22 saves vs. Sacred Heart on April 10 – the fifth largest save total in a D1 game during the 2024 campaign. He posted nine games with 15+ saves.
- Oak has been tabbed Preseason MAAC Player of the Year, and was named to the USA Lacrosse Magazine Preseason All-American list.
- The Bobcats have 12 first-year athletes in total.
- Jake Gallose (Ronkonkoma, NY), Drew Bradley (Attleboro, MA), Carter Hills (Saratoga Springs, NY), Brendan Johnson (Park City, Utah), Joe Konesco (Indianapolis, Ind.), Drew Hansen (Franklin, MA), Adam Kim (Greenwich, CT), Chad Pelonzi (Princeton, Mass.), Augie Silver (Lake Forest, Ill.), Logan Boltz (White Hall, MD), Nick Smith (Newington, NH) and Riley Ruane (Essex Fells, NJ) will all join the Bobcats for their first collegiate season in 2025.
- Poli and the Bobcats will play in 13 total contests during the spring season. Quinnipiac will host five games at the QU Lacrosse Stadium in Hamden – one in February, two in March, and two home games in April.
- Quinnipiac will open up the season with a pair of road trips to UMass (February 14) and St. John's (February 18). The Bobcats will then square off with Bryant for the third consecutive season, as QU will host the Bulldogs in Hamden (February 22) for the home opener.
- "We are very excited for another challenging slate in 2024," Poli said. "Both our non-conference and our league schedule provide a look at some new opponents. Our out-of-conference schedule is highlighted by a Colorado trip to play Air Force and Denver. We are also thrilled to welcome Iona and Merrimack into the MAAC!"
- Mason Poli, a former standout lacrosse player at Bryant University, enters his 11th season with the Quinnipiac coaching staff in 2024-2025 – and his seventh at the helm of the program.
- After serving as an assistant for the Bobcats' program for four seasons (2015-18), Poli was elevated to Interim Head Coach for the 2019 season. He was then named Men's Lacrosse Head Coach on May 10, 2019, becoming the Bobcats' sixth head coach in program history and third at the Division I level.
- QU has won 31 matchups in six seasons under Poli thus far. The Bobcats have posted a winning record in regular season MAAC games (20-17) during that span.
- Quinnipiac went 9-5 (5-4 MAAC) last season – the most wins for the team since 2019. The Bobcats won each of their first seven games against St. John's, Brown, Bryan, Merrimack, Canisius, Wagner, and Marist.
- The Bobcats entered the Inside Lacrosse Division I Media Poll on March 25, 2024 following a perfect 7-0 start (best start to a season since 2008). QU was tabbed No. 20 nationally in the rankings.
