Giusta Leads the Way As Bobcats Win 9th Straight Match

Hamden, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's volleyball team's win streak reached nine straight matches after they defeated the Manhattan Jaspers in four sets. With the win, the Bobcats improved to 15-11 overall and 12-2 in conference play.
The Bobcats jumped out to a lead to begin the match as they held a 16-8 advantage halfway through the opening frame. From that point, the Bobcats continued to control the pace of play as they finished the set on a 9-8 scoring run and won the first set 25-16.
Quinnipiac jumped out to an early lead yet again, as they led 8-1 as the Jaspers used their first timeout of the set. Manhattan crept back into the set as they responded with a 12-10 scoring run and cut their deficit to five. After the Bobcats called a timeout, the Jaspers came out with another scoring run to make it a 21-17 match, but the Bobcats still led. After Manhattan used its final timeout of the set, the Bobcats scored four of the next six points to close out the second set, 25-19.
After the Bobcats started on an 18-15 run, the Jaspers called a timeout to settle things down. Manhattan came out of the break with a 5-4 scoring run to make it a two-point game. After Quinnipiac called a timeout as they led 22-20, Manhattan scored five of the next six points to force the match into the fourth set.
Quinnipiac held a lead to begin the fourth set, leading 12-7 as Manhattan called an early timeout in the fourth set. Another scoring run from the Bobcats made it a 19-13 lead for QU as Manhattan used their final timeout of the set. Quinnipiac responded with another scoring run to close out the set, 25-16, and the match.

- Leilani-kai Giusta led the way for the Bobcats as she recorded 17 kills in the win. The 17 kills are good for her second-most in a single match this season.
- Giusta also recorded 14 digs as she registered her fourth double-double of the season.
- Elena Giacomini recorded 12 kills in the win, the second-highest amount on the team.
- Ginevra Giovagnoni recorded 11 kills and 10 digs for her third double-double of the season and second straight match.
- Carola Negron Diaz led the defensive side of the ball as she recorded 16 digs in the win.
- Damla Gunes led the Bobcats with 41 assists, while four other Bobcats recorded at least one assist. Carola Negron Diaz was second on the team with five assists.
- Damla Gunes eclipsed the 4,000 assists mark in the win over Manhattan.
- Six different Bobcats recorded a kill, and eight different Bobcats recorded at least one dig in the four-set win over the Jaspers.
- Carola Negron Diaz led the Bobcats with four service aces, while five other Bobcats recorded at least one ace in the win.
- Klara Olszewska led the Bobcats with 1.5 total blocks.
- The Bobcats stretched their win streak to nine straight matches.
- With the win, the Bobcats improve to 12-2 in conference play and 15-11 overall.
