Damla Gunes Named MAAC Setter of the Week

HAMDEN, Conn. – Senior setter Damla Gunes was named the Jersey Mike's MAAC Setter of the Week, as announced by the league office on Tuesday, October 28^th.

Damla Gunes helped the Bobcats to another 2-0 weekend as they swept the Fairfield Stags on Friday night and defeated the Sacred Heart Pioneers on Saturday night in Hamden. In Friday's sweep, Gunes registered a team-high 36 assists to power the Bobcats past the Stags. Against the Pioneers on Saturday, Gunes recorded 38 assists and 13 digs, which both led the team.

The senior from Bursa, Turkey, has recorded a double-double in ten matches this season and has recorded one in back-to-back matches. Gunes has recorded 786 assists so far this season, which ranks third in the MAAC. Throughout conference play, Gunes has recorded 416 assists in 40 sets played for an average of 10.4 assists per set, which ranks second in the conference.

The Bobcats are back in action tonight as they host the Merrimack Warriors. First serve from Burt Kahn Court is slated for 5 PM and can be seen on ESPN+.
