
Bobcats Claim Victory at Stony Brook Season Opener

STONY BROOK, N.Y. — The Quinnipiac University women's cross country team earned its second consecutive victory at the Stony Brook Season Opener, placing five of its runners in the top seven en route to the win in the first meet of 2024.
The Bobcats totaled 25 points, besting the hosts Stony Brook by 18 in the curtain raiser for the new campaign. Lauren Selkin led Quinnipiac, clocking in at 14:10.80, which was good for third.
Rachel St. Germain (14:12.50) and Corinne Barney (14:20.20) rounded out the overall top five, while Sierra Gray (14:24.60) and Alessandra Zaffina (14:24.70) finished the scoring for Quinnipiac.
Two runners making their Bobcat debut, Alexa Ciccone and Madeleine O'Neill, finished 15th and 16th respectively to lead the navy and gold's first years.

- Quinnipiac bested its scored from a season ago by eight points and earned its second straight win in the season opener.
- Along with Ciccone and O'Neill, both Ryan Smith and Claire O'Sullivan made their collegiate debuts at the meet.
- St. Germain bested her time from a season ago by 6.2 seconds.
- Zaffina's time this season was three seconds better than a season ago at the meet.
- Avery Palmucci's time came down 45 seconds from a season ago, while Brianna Minervino dropped her time 30 seconds.
