QU Drops Opening Game To Manhattan, 6-3

POMONA, N.Y. – The Quinnipiac baseball team fell to the Manhattan Jaspers in the opening game of the series, 6-3, on Friday afternoon.
With the loss, the Bobcats will improve to 15-22 overall and 6-7 in MAAC play, while the Jaspers will improve to 13-26 overall and 6-10 in conference play with the win.

HOW IT HAPPENED
After a scoreless opening inning, the Jaspers cracked the scoreboard first as a two-run double down the left field line gave them a 2-0 lead in the second inning.
Keegan O'Connor got the Bobcats on the board in the top of the fourth with a solo home run to right center field. Manhattan would respond in the bottom half of the inning as they brought in three runs. An RBI single got their scoring going in the inning before blasting a two-run homer to right center to make it a 5-1 game.
In the seventh inning, the Bobcats threatened to make a comeback. Dominick Proctor scored CJ Willis with a single to center field to bring the Bobcats within three. With Matt DeRosa on third, Kyle Garbowski flew out to left field to bring home DeRosa and cut it to a two-run game.
Manhattan would get out of the inning and score on a sacrifice fly to make it a 6-3 game and seal the victory in the opening game of the series.

- The Bobcats will be back tomorrow, Saturday, April 27th, to take on the Manhattan Jaspers in the middle game of the three-game set. First pitch from SUNY Westchester Community College is set for 1 PM.
