EDISON, N.J. — The Quinnipiac women's lacrosse team was selected to finish fourth in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
In the annual polling of the league's coaches, the Bobcats were slated to finish in the same spot they finished during the 2023 regular season, collecting 68 points.
Fairfield earned preseason favorite honors, collecting nine of the 10 available first place votes. Siena garnered the 10th and was picked to finish second, while Niagara was slated to finish a spot above the Bobcats.
Mount St. Mary's rounded out the top five, followed by Canisius, Iona, Manhattan, Marist and league newcomer Rider.
Quinnipiac is coming off its first appearance in the MAAC semifinals in program history and its first 10-win season since the 2011 season when the squad won a program record 13 games. The squad returns the 2023 MAAC Rookie of the Year in Mia Delmond and have four of their top eight scorers back on the offensive end.
The Bobcats also return two of their top four defense leaders in both ground balls and caused turnovers amongst field players, including Melissa Murphy who had a team-high 35 GBs and 31 CTs, both of which led Bobcat field players.
The squad opens its campaign on Feb. 21 at local rival Yale before hosting UMass Lowell on Feb. 24 in its home opener.
