Three Bobcats Earn Preseason All-MAAC Honors

ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. – Quinnipiac women's basketball has been tabbed tied for 3rd in the MAAC Preseason Coaches' Poll, as announced by the league office as part of the inaugural MAAC Basketball Tip-off held at Ocean Casino Resort in Atlantic City, NJ. on Tuesday, Oct. 8.
Quinnipiac sophomore Anna Foley was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team and Jackie Grisdale and Karson Martin were named to the Preseason All-MAAC Third Team.
The Bobcats received 132 points in the preseason coaches' poll – finishing behind Fairfield (169) and Siena (136) and tying Niagara.
As a first-year last season, Foley started in all 31 games and averaged 13.1 points, 7.1 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.2 steals per game. Her 13.1 points per game ranked second on the Bobcats last season. Foley had a career-high 28 points and four blocks against Manhattan (Feb. 17). Foley grabbed a season-high 14 rebounds in a win over Marist (Feb. 1). Anna Foley is expected to have a huge impact this season as she enters her second season in Hamden.
Captain Jackie Grisdale started eight games for the Bobcats before she was shut down last season. Grisdale led the team with an average of 14.1 points per game, shooting 46% from the field and 45.9% from the three-point range. Grisdale averaged 34.6 minutes per game in her junior season. Jackie Grisdale has been named a captain for the second straight season as she looks to lead the Bobcats to a MAAC title.
Woodstock, Georgia native Karson Martin was third on the team last season with an average of 11.7 points per game. Martin appeared in 27 games, starting 21, and averaged 30.9 minutes per game. Martin had a career-high 23 points in the loss at Canisius on 18 field goal attempts. The first-year guard snagged five steals against Saint Peter's (March 12). Karson Martin will look to have a big impact in her sophomore season in blue and gold.
QU announced the full 2024-25 schedule on Aug. 28. The Bobcats' non-conference slate features nine total games, including four home contests at the M&T Bank Arena in Hamden and five road bouts sandwiching a non-conference tournament at the University of Miami. The Bobcats will play four schools out of the Ivy League before heading into conference play.
The Bobcats open the 2024-25 campaign on Monday, Nov. 4, as the Bobcats start their season on the road against Holy Cross. The Bobcats are 7-4 all-time against the Crusaders and are coming off a thrilling 66-63 win last season. Anna Foley and Ella O'Donnell led the team with 12 points each in the win.
Following their season opener, the Bobcats will welcome the Harvard Crimson to Hamden for their home opener on Sunday, November 10th. Tip-off from M&T Bank Arena is slated for 2 PM.
