Zaffina Set to Compete in NCAA East First Round

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — After a pair of titles at the MAAC Championships, junior Alessandra Zaffina is looking to add more hardware to her 2023 resume and punch her ticket to the National Championship meet on Saturday night when she runs in the Quarterfinals of the Steeplechase at the NCAA East First Round on the campus of the University of North Florida.

The Trumbull, Conn., native qualified with her school-record-breaking time of 10:21.22 when she won her heat in the event at the Penn Relays almost exactly a month ago in Philadelphia, and has since won the MAAC title in the event as well.

Zaffina will be in Heat 2 when the event commences at 5:40 p.m., on Saturday night and can be watched live on ESPN+.
