
St. Germain Takes 5K as Bobcats Compete at New England Championships

BOSTON — First year runner Rachel St. Germain continued to rack up the hardware over the weekend, as she won the 5k race at the 2023 NEICCA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, held at Northeastern University.
The distance runner clocked in at 16:53.13, leading one of three Bobcats inside the Top 7 in the race. Lauren Selkin (17:17.75) and Liv DiStefano (17:40.54) took sixth and seventh, respectively.
After a fourth-place finish at MAACs last weekend, Christina Gunsalus continued her strong stretch with a sixth-place run in the 800m on Saturday. She finished in 2:13.34, less than a second off her time from the previous weekend.
As a team, the Bobcats finished with 24 points and took 11th at the event. Rhode Island, UMass and Northeastern rounded out the top three.
NOTES
Quinnipiac awaits the selections for the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Track and Field Championships, with the East Regional meet set for Memorial Day Weekend in Jacksonville.
Alessandra Zaffina (10:21.22) sits 33rd on the performance list in the 3000 Steeplechase and is the Bobcats' highest-ranked athlete.

- St. Germain earned her fourth individual win and fifth overall between the indoor and outdoor seasons. Four of her individual wins have come in the last month.
- Amanda Minervino threw a new collegiate best in the javelin, marking at 36.17m. That distance is good for fifth on the program's performance charts.
- The Bobcats' 4x100 grouping of Nyasia Dailey, Hailey Tolson, Izzie Anzaldo and Michelle Tota clocked in at 48.03, their fastest time in the event this season.
- Selkin's sixth-place finish was also a new collegiate best for her in the 5k.
