HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac baseball team completed the weekend sweep over Marist after taking both games in its doubleheader series finale at home against Marist, 7-5 and 13-9, Sunday afternoon at the QU Baseball Field.

With the sweep, the Bobcats improved to 10-14 on the season and 4-2 in the MAAC, while the Red Foxes fell to 3-22 and 0-3 in MAAC play.

GAME ONE: QU 7, MARIST 5
The Red Foxes struck first, tallying a run in the opening frame to jump to an early 1-0 advantage. However, the Bobcats responded with two runs in the bottom of the third inning. With two outs in the frame and a runner on first, Kyle Maves roped an RBI double to left to tie the game at 1-1. Keegan O'Connor then reached on an error in the field, allowing Maves to score to give Quinnipiac a 2-1 lead in the game.

The Red Foxes responded with four runs in the seventh to pull ahead 5-2 in the contest. Quinnipiac refused to go away, cutting the deficit to 5-3 after Keegan O'Connor drew a bases-loaded walk in the seventh. Later in the inning, McGwire Tuffy reached on an error in the field, allowing two runs to score to tie the contest at 5-5.

Quinnipiac took the lead in the eighth after Donofrio launched a two-run homer to right to give the Bobcats the late 7-5 advantage. The Bobcats held on in the ninth to secure the two-run victory.

GAME TWO: QU 13, MARIST 9
Marist got on the board first, scoring two runs over the first four innings of play to take a 2-0 lead. Quinnipiac got on the board in the fifth, starting with a three-run homer from Sean Swenson to give the Bobcats a 3-2 lead. Later in the frame, Braydon Seaburg lined an RBI single to right to extend the lead to 4-2.

QU added two more runs in the fifth with Jared Zimbardo launching a solo homer to get the rally started. Later in the inning, Sebastian Mueller lined an RBI single to the outfield to score Donofrio from second, extending the lead to 6-2.

With the game knotted at 6-6 in the seventh, Zimbardo launched his second solo homer of the contest to give Quinnipiac the 7-6 advantage. Later in the inning, O'Connor joined in on the fun, clubbing a three-run homer over the fence to extend the Bobcats' lead to 10-6 in the seventh.

The lead proved to be too much for the Red Foxes, as the Bobcats held on for the eventual 13-9 victory.

Seitter struck out four in the outing
