Melnick Garners NEIBA All-New England First Team Honors

HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac baseball junior Danny Melnick was named to the New England Intercollegiate Baseball Associations (NEIBA) Division I All-New England Team, as announced by the NEIBA on Thursday, June 2.
Earning All-MAAC First Team honors for the first time just a week prior, Melnick finds himself earning NEIBA All-New England First Team honors for the first time in his career as well. Melnick becomes the first Quinnipiac player to earn NEIBA All-New England First Team honors since Evan Vulgamore after the 2018 campaign.
Melnick finished the 2022 season with a .344 batting average, leading the team and ranking seventh in the conference in the category, as he started 41 games this season. He recorded 55 hits in 178 at bats, belting team-highs of 17 doubles and 11 homers, while driving in 33 RBIs and scoring a team-best 45 runs. He also had a .365 on base percentage and .656 slugging percentage.
Melnick closed the season in strong fashion, batting .423 (36-for-85) with 32 runs scored, 10 doubles, eight homers and 19 RBIs over his last 22 games. He blasted three homers against Fairfield on May 13, marking the first time a QU player hit three homers in a game since Evan Vulgamore hit three against Saint Peter's on March 31, 2018.
