RICHMOND, Va. – Matt DeRosa led the offense with two RBIs, but it wasn't enough as the Quinnipiac baseball team fell on the road against VCU, 14-4, Saturday afternoon at The Diamond.

With the loss, the Bobcats fell to 4-10 on the season, while the Rams improved 9-8 on the campaign with the win.

Trailing 2-0 after the first four innings of play, QU responded with three runs in the top of the fifth inning. Keegan O'Connor opened the inning with a leadoff double then three batters later Jared Zimbardo singled to load the bases. Michael Kohn immediately stepped to the plate and looped an RBI single to center to cut the deficit to 2-1. DeRosa followed with a fielder's choice, scoring Sean Swenson from third and a throwing error from the shortstop allowed Zimbardo to score to give Quinnipiac a 3-2 lead.

However, VCU responded with seven runs in the sixth inning to take a commanding 9-3 lead. The deficit proved to be too much for the Bobcats as they eventually fell, 14-4.

Kevin Seitter (0-3) got the start and took the loss after allowing three earned runs on six hits in 5.1 innings of work
Matt DeLuca tossed 1.2 innings of relief and allowed one earned run in the appearance
