Maves Drives In Four Runs in QU's 7-5 Win Over Hartford

WEST HARTFORD, Conn. – Kyle Maves led the offense with four RBIs as the Quinnipiac baseball team downed in-state foe Hartford, 7-5, on the road Tuesday afternoon at Fiondella Field.
 
With the win the Bobcats improved to 4-8 on the season, while the Hawks fell to 0-8 on the campaign with the loss.
 
Quinnipiac 7, Hartford 5
After four scoreless innings, QU struck first in the fifth behind an RBI single from Anthony Donofrio. After the Hawks responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning, the Bobcats responded with three runs of their own to take a 4-3 lead in the seventh.
Hartford was able to knot the game at 4-4 in the bottom of the seventh, however, with the bases loaded in the eighth Kyle Maves delivered a bases clearing triple to push Quinnipiac ahead 7-4. Hartford tallied a run in the ninth, but it wasn't enough as QU held on for the 7-5 victory.

- Maves went 3-for-5 with four RBIs and a triple
 - Anthony Donofrio contributed two hits and two RBIs
 - Gianni Arici went 1-for-2 with an RBI single
 - Tate Copeland got the start and took the no-decision after tossing 2.2 innings of shutout ball
 - Copeland struck out five in the outing
 - Jimmy Hagan (2-0) earned the win after tossing 2.1 innings of relief, allowing just one run in the process
 - Hagan allowed one hit and struck out four in the victory

- The Bobcats will be back in action on Friday, March 18 when they travel to Richmond, Virginia to open a three-game set against VCU
