Bobcats, Nationally-Ranked Terrapins Begin New Year in College Park
COLLEGE PARK, Md. – Quinnipiac men's basketball will open the 2021-22 season at Maryland on Tuesday, Nov. 9, as announced by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the program.
The Bobcats' non-conference schedule will begin at the XFINITY Center against the Terrapins – who are projected to be in the preseason Top-25 rankings by virtually every national outlet. The matchup between Quinnipiac and Maryland is the first-ever between the two programs.
Dunleavy recently completed his fourth season as Head Coach at Quinnipiac. He helped guide the Bobcats to nine wins this past season, including an 8-5 record at the People's United Center in Hamden.

Quinnipiac won four of its last seven regular season MAAC games. The Bobcats ranked No. 8 nationally in defensive field goal percentage last season, as opponents shot just 39.0% from the field against QU. Quinnipiac also grabbed 28.32 defensive rebounds per game in 2020-21, which ranked best in the MAAC and No. 17 nationally.
The Bobcats return all three of the team's All-MAAC selections following the completion of the 2020-21 season. Jacob Rigoni (11.8 PPG, 6.3 RPG) was named to the All-MAAC Second Team while Luis Kortright (10.3 PPG, 3.9 RPG, 2.7 APG) and Tymu Chenery (9.7 PPG, 3.8 RPG) both garnered All-Rookie honors.
Rigoni announced his return to Quinnipiac for a fifth year on July 19.
He is the second Bobcat to announce his return so far this summer. Quinnipiac revealed the return of forward Kevin Marfo on April 26. Marfo led the nation in rebounding (13.3 RPG) in 2019-20 for the Bobcats, then spent the 2020-21 season at Texas A&M.
The program also returns eight of their top nine players in total minutes played.
The full non-conference schedule for the Bobcats will be revealed in the coming weeks. Quinnipiac Athletics announced the return of fans at full capacity back on July 12. Season ticket holders will be able to renew their packages online and through the Quinnipiac ticket office beginning July 12 through August 13. Individual game tickets will become available to the general public on September 13, 2021.
