Nation’s Leading Rebounder in ’19-20 Rejoins Bobcats After Spending Last Year at Texas A&M
HAMDEN, Conn. – Kevin Marfo is returning to the Bobcats.
The former Quinnipiac big man is headed back to Hamden to rejoin the program after spending the 2020-21 season at Texas A&M, as announced by Head Coach Baker Dunleavy and the Bobcats on Monday, April 26.
Marfo – the nation's leading rebounder (13.3 RPG) during his last season at Quinnipiac two years ago – will rejoin the Bobcats with one remaining year of eligibility in 2021-22.

"We're thrilled to have Kevin and his family return to our program," Dunleavy said. "He is a tireless worker and competitor who will bring a veteran presence to our group next season. Kevin is also an excellent student off the floor, and we look forward to him continuing to contribute to our University community in positive ways."
"He knows what it takes to succeed at Quinnipiac. We're excited about having Kevin back in Hamden, and we're eager to help him find success both on and off the court."
The Bergenfield, New Jersey-native played in 17 games last year for the Aggies, making eight total starts. Marfo finished second on the team in field goal percentage (46.4%) and third in rebounding (3.7 RPG). He recorded four games of 5+ points, and three contests of 5+ rebounds at Texas A&M during 2020-21.
"I'm definitely excited to return. I needed something familiar, and coming back to Quinnipiac gives me a chance to have the most success both on and off the court," Marfo said. "I want to finish this out the right way – with the right opportunity. I'm really glad to be returning to something familiar. It's a great fit."
"We have a chance to win, that's the most important thing right now," Marfo continued. "All the right pieces are there. I'm just excited to be a part of this program again."

Marfo, an All-MAAC Second Team choice as a junior with the Bobcats, led the entire country in rebounding during 2019-20. He played in all 30 games for Quinnipiac, grabbing 10+ rebounds in 29 of 30 games. The 6-foot-8, 247-pound forward recorded 17 double-doubles during his junior season – the most of any MAAC player. He scored 10.2 points per game and shot 48.4% from the floor.
He registered double-digit point totals in 12 of 20 league games two seasons ago. Marfo grabbed a season-best 21 rebounds vs. Monmouth (1/12/20), and grabbed an impressive nine offensive rebounds in QU's regular-season finale at Iona (3/4/20).
Marfo played in 25 games during 2018-19 as a sophomore at QU, posting 5.4 points and 7.5 rebounds per contest. He shot 48.8 percent from the field, playing 18.5 minutes per game. Marfo first joined Quinnipiac in 2017-18, taking a redshirt season after transferring from George Washington.
He is the second addition to Quinnipiac's roster this summer. Quinnipiac announced the addition of guard Dezmond Jones (Moberly Area Community College) on Sunday, April 25.
