Bobcats Swept by Canisius

HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac softball team fell to the Canisius Golden Griffins on Sunday, April 25 in a doubleheader, by a score of 7-4 and 4-0. First-year Tori McGraw had a stellar day in the circle, pitching nine innings through two games and throwing eight strikeouts, which is a season-high for the rookie and the team.
Highlights Game 1 (L, 4-7):
Fifth Inning - The Bobcats got on the board in the fifth inning, coming within three runs of the Griffs' lead. After first-year Gianna Palmisano was walked, first-year Kayla Thomas hit a double to center field, recording an RBI as Palmisano scored. Later, junior Bridget Nasir was walked. First-year Julie Woeste tallied a single up the middle, and Thomas added another run. Senior Kayla Jensen stepped up and hit a double to left field, allowing Tedim (who pinch ran for Woeste) and Nasir to score.
Canisius would hold on to its lead and win the first game, 7-4.

The Griffs shutout the Bobcats in the second game of the day and final game of the weekend after scoring runs in the second, fifth and sixth innings.
