Highlights Game 2 (L, 4-7):
First Inning - The Bobcats took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first after a sacrifice fly ball hit by sophomore Katherine Rodriguez allowed senior Kayla Jensen to score.
Fifth Inning - After the Hawks jumped to a 7-1 lead, the Bobcats came back to score three runs in the fifth inning. Senior Hannah Davis and Jensen started the inning off with two singles. Sophomore Sydney Tedim hit a sacrifice bunt to advance the runners. First-year Kayla Thomas, junior Bridget Nasir and Rodriguez all hit an individual RBI-single; the Bobcats scored three runs to come within three of the Hawks.
Monmouth would hold onto the 7-4 lead and secure the win.
Notable Stats:
The Hawks shutout the Bobcats in the first game on Saturday in five innings. Monmouth's Alyssa Irons pitched four innings and recorded three strikeouts. For Quinnipiac, Thomas and first-year Julia Woeste recorded the Bobcats' two hits in the loss. Woeste also pitched four innings and tallied one strikeout.
