LSU Standout joins Quinnipiac Softball Program
HAMDEN, Conn. – Head softball coach Hillary Smith has announced the addition of Bianka Bell to the coaching staff as an assistant coach.
Bell joins Quinnipiac Athletics after coaching for two years at Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Fla. (Sunshine State Conference, DII). Bell coached the Eagles to a 44-25 record through two seasons, which included two wins against #23 Rollins College. In 2020, the Eagles went 18-6 under assistant coach Bell before the season was cut short due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
"I'm extremely humbled about this opportunity to represent Quinnipiac," Bell said. "I'm ready to get to work with the girls as well as Hillary. I've heard many wonderful things about this program and I am excited be a part of it! Go Bobcats!"
The Tampa, Fla., native had a standout softball career at LSU, and was a part of back-to-back Women's College World Series appearances in 2015 and 2016. Bell started 253 games for the LSU Tigers and became the fastest player to record 100 RBI in LSU history. She earned the SEC Co-Freshman of the Year Award, was a four-time All-SEC selection and was named an NFCA All-Region pick four times and NFCA All-American two times.
"I am very excited about the addition of Bianka to our coaching staff," head coach Hillary Smith said. "Bianka has played at the highest level you can play in this game and will bring a lot of knowledge to our program. Her energy, enthusiasm and love for the game is going to help lead us to new heights."
In addition to a stellar career at LSU, Bell represented the USA Junior National Team and Team USA throughout her playing time. She won the 2015 World Cup of Softball and 2015 Japan Cup with the USA Junior Women's National Team. With Team USA, Bell won a silver medal at the World Cup of Softball and won gold at the WBSC Women's World Championship and the Japan Cup.
Bell continued playing softball at the professional level after four years with the Tigers. She was drafted by the Pennsylvania Rebellion in the National Pro Fastpitch draft in 2016. She would later sign with the USSSA Pride and win back-to-back regular season titles, leading the team to a 45-5 record.
Bell graduated from LSU in 2017 with a degree in sociology.
