MEN'S ICE HOCKEY PLACES 23 ON ECAC HOCKEY ALL-ACADEMIC TEAM
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey placed 23 student-athletes on the ECAC Hockey All-Academic Team for a second straight season, as announced by the league office on Tuesday.
The Bobcats have placed at least 20 student-athletes on the all-academic team for a 10th consecutive season dating back to the 2010-11 season. Quinnipiac's 23 selections are tied for its second-most selections over the past decade after placing 26 student-athletes on the all-academic in 2014 and 2016.
To be eligible for the all-academic team, student-athletes must have earned a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.00 on a 4.00 scale or have a GPA over 3.00 in the past three semesters.
First-year Evan Fear (Winnetka, Illinois) led the Bobcats as the program's 2019-20 Commissioner's List selection after an impressive first year in the classroom. The Commissioner's List is comprised of the top scholar from each ECAC Hockey institution.
Seniors Karlis Cukste (Riga, Latvia), Nick Jermain (Norwalk, Connecticut) and Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) were all named to the All-Academic Team for a fourth consecutive season.
Juniors Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) and Josh Mayanja (Framingham, Massachusetts) each earned their third consecutive all-academic team picks for the Bobcats while 10 different players were named for a second straight season and eight first-years picked up their first all-academic team selection.
