Toews, Clifton, Anas, Priskie, Rafferty Make NHL Camp Rosters, Cashman Readies with Washington
HAMDEN, Conn. – Six Quinnipiac men's ice hockey alumni have begun preparations in their quest for the 2020 Stanley Cup this week as NHL teams begin training camps ahead of August's playoff qualifying rounds.
Connor Clifton (Boston), Devon Toews (New York Islanders), Sam Anas (Minnesota), Chase Priskie (Florida), and Brogan Rafferty (Vancouver) all earned spots on their respective teams' training camp restart rosters, which were announced over the past week. Camps will run during the month of July with the initial qualifying series' beginning on Saturday, August 1.
Former Quinnipiac star and Assistant Coach Reid Cashman will return to the bench as assistant coach of the Washington Capitals. At the conclusion of Washington's postseason, Cashman will officially begin his tenure as head coach at Dartmouth College.
Clifton's Bruins and Cashman's are among the teams that will play in a three-game round-robin, as they have already qualified for the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
All Eastern Conference games will be played at Scotiabank Arena in Toronto; Western Conference games will be held at Rogers Place in Edmonton.
The top four teams in each conference, based on points percentage, will play a three-game round-robin, and the No. 5-12 seeds will play in eight best-of-5 series. The winners of those series will advance to the first round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs against the four teams from the round-robin.
