Lopez, Peralta Push Bobcats to First Round Lead

Pair of 76s Paces Bobcats in Round One
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Leeyen Peralta and Elena Lopez posted identical rounds of 76 (+5) to guide the Quinnipiac women's golf team to a one-stroke lead after the opening round of play at the Benbow Invitational at Jacksonville Beach Golf Club on Monday.
Peralta and Lopez are tied for fourth place on the individual leaderboard, just two strokes behind Kayla Krueger, the leader from Valparaiso.

FIRST ROUND SCORES
- Peralta's 76 (+5) featured a birdie on the par-3 12th hole and four straight pars to end the round.
- Lopez birdied the par-3 14th and the par-4 17th holes after starting with six-straight pars.
- Senior Alexandra Sazhin finished just two strokes behind Lopez and Peralta with a 78 (+7). Sazhin added two birdies to her program-leading career totals, with scores on the par-4 3rd and 17th holes. She played her last eight holes at even par and is tied for 12th overall.
- Junior captain Queenie Lai is even with Sazhin in the tie for 12th place. The Hong Kong native recorded six pars on each side of her scorecard to post the 78 (+7).
- First year standout Kaylee Sakoda posted four pars in her opening five holes, but ultimately finished the day with an 85 (+14).
- Sophomore captain Elena Ybarra competed as an individual golfer and put together a round of 87 (+16) on Monday.
Quinnipiac concluds play at the Benbow Invitational with round two on Tuesday.
