Golf Sits in 1st Place After Day One of MAAC Championships

Lake Buena Vista, Fla. – The Quinnipiac Bobcats closed out the first day of the 2026 MAAC Championships at the top of the leaderboard. As a team, the Bobcats shot a 299 (+11), which is two strokes ahead of Fairfield, which sits in second place after the first 18 holes.
Sophia Fujita currently leads the Bobcats, shooting a 73 (+1), which is tied for second place. Fujita carded a 35 (-1) on the front nine and shot a 38 (+2) on the back nine.
Samantha Galantini was consistent throughout the first round as she sits in a tie for fourth place with a score of 74 (+2). Galantini opened the round with a 37 (+1) on the first nine holes and closed out play with a 37 (+1) on the final nine holes.
Natalie Spiska and Marisa Flores ended day one tied for seventh place with a score of 76 (+4). Spiska shot a 38 (+2) on both the front nine and back nine, while Flores shot a 36 (E) on the front nine and a 40 (+4) on the back nine.
Vaidehi Shah rounded out the Quinnipiac grouping in a tie for 13th place with a score of 77 (+5). Shah had a solid back nine, shooting a 37 (+1) to end the first day.
The Bobcats will be back in action tomorrow, April 22nd, as they play the second round at the 2026 MAAC Championships at Disney's Magnolia Golf Course in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.
