Team Stands in 19th at Country's Largest Collegiate Event
KIAWAH ISLAND, S.C. - Quinnipiac women's golf is currently tied for 19th place after round one of the 2020 Kiawah Island Classic, the country's largest collegiate golf event.
First year Leeyen Peralta (T48) led the way once again for the Bobcats with a 74 (+2) in the opening round. She was followed closely by Kaylee Sakoda and Elena Lopez, who posted identical 75s (+3).

FIRST ROUND SCORES
- Peralta's 74 included three birdies and 10 pars. Opening her round at the fourth hole, the rookie played holes 1-9 at one-under par.
- Sakoda played even-par golf on the back nine and posted two birdies in the opening round. The California native is tied for 68th after round one.
- Elena Lopez mirrored Sakoda's round, playing the front nine at even-par with two birdies. The sophomore tallied 11 pars in the round.
- Senior Alexandra Sazhin also birdied two holes in her round of 77 (+5). Sazhin posted a 37 (+1) on the back nine with six pars in the stretch.
- Queenie Lai struggled out of the gates, but finished strong as she played her last five holes at even par. The junior captain had nine pars and a birdie on her Sunday scorecard.
- Peralta was one of just 31 golfers to play the par threes at under-par.
- Lopez played the par fours at even par, one of just 35 golfers to acheive that mark.
Quinnipiac continues play at the Kiawah Island Classic with round two on Monday and the final round on Tuesday.
