
Three Men's Ice Hockey Players Recognized by Sports Illustrated

Smilanic, DiLiberatore and Petruzzelli Named in Top 100 College Hockey Players List
HAMDEN, Conn. – Three Quinnipiac men's ice hockey players have been recognized by Sports Illustrated as part of their top 100 NCAA players to watch in 2020-21 list.
First-year forward Ty Smilanic (No. 19), junior defenseman Peter DiLiberatore (No. 31) and senior goaltender Keith Petruzzelli (No. 96) all made appearances on the list.
Smilanic, a third round draft pick of the Florida Panthers in the 2020 NHL Entry Draft comes to Hamden after being a part of the United States National Team Development Program for the past two seasons. The Colorado native played 88 games in his two seasons in the program, recording 27 goals and 33 assists for 60 points.
DiLiberatore, a sixth round draft pick of the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2018 NHL Entry Draft enters his junior season coming off a 2019-20 campaign that earned him ECAC Hockey Second Team honors. He has recorded nine goals and 31 assists for 40 points in his two years in Hamden. The Bedford, Nova Scotia native was invited to participate in Hockey Canada's National Junior Team Selection Camp last December.
Petruzzelli, a third round draft pick of the Detroit Red Wings in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft enters his senior season after being named the team's most valuable player for his 2019-20 campaign. The Massachusetts native had his best season as a Bobcat last season as he played all 34 games, recording career-bests in goals against average (2.01), save percentage (.920), shutouts (3), saves (761), and wins (21).
