Bobcats Climb Three Spots From Previous Week, Up to No. 15 in Pairwise Rankings
HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac men's ice hockey team continues to rise in the national rankings as the Bobcats are up to No. 17 in the USCHO.com Division I Men's Poll, as announced by USCHO Monday afternoon.
Quinnipiac has risen in each of the past three weeks as the Bobcats cracked the Top 20 as the No. 20 team last week before climbing three spots this week to No. 17. The Bobcats received 151 points in the latest poll, up from 58 when they were ranked No. 20.
The Bobcats have also climbed to No. 15 in the most up-to-date Pairwise Rankings after defeating Holy Cross on Friday. The PairWise Ranking is a system which attempts to mimic the method used by the NCAA Selection Committee to determine participants for the NCAA Division I men's hockey tournament. The PWR compares all teams by these criteria: record against common opponents, head-to-head competition, and the RPI.
Alex Whelan (Ramsey, New Jersey) recorded his second career hat trick at Holy Cross to lead the Bobcats while Logan Britt (Crystal Lake, Illinois) scored his first career goal in the win. Odeen Tufto (Chaska, Minnesota) chipped in two assists in the winning effort as well.
Quinnipiac returns to action with the first-ever Connecticut Ice Tournament next weekend, starting Saturday at 4 p.m. as the Bobcats will face UConn at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport.
