
Track & Field Stands in Fourth Place after Day 1 of MAAC Outdoor Championships

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. - The Quinnipiac women's track & field team sits in fourth place with 30 points after the first day of competition at the 2019 MAAC Outdoor Championships. Two Bobcats metaled on the first day of competition; senior Carly Timpson took third in the hammer throw, and graduate student Kaleigh Roberts finished in second in the 3000m steeplechase.
The host team, Monmouth, sits at the top of the leader board with 85 points. Rider and Iona stand in second and third, with Quinnipiac in fourth place. Manhattan and Marist are not far behind in fifth and sixth place, while Siena, Canisius, Niagara and Saint Peter's make up the bottom four.

Track Highlights:
- Roberts placed third in the 3000m steeplechase with a school record-breaking time of 10.44.33. She scored six points for the Bobcats. Junior Morgan Voight finished in fifth place in the same event (10:58.44).
- Freshman Emily Young recorded a new Quinnipiac top-ten time in the 1500m preliminaries (4:36.82).
- Freshman Symone Foster took third overall and second in her heat in the 100m hurdles with a time of 14.22. Freshman Kalli'ana Botelho finished fourth overall with a time of 15.18 in the same event. Both Foster and Botelho will race in the finals on Sunday.
- In the 400m prelims, Melissa Solomon recorded a personal-best time of 57.92 to qualify for the finals. Junior Meaghan Scullin recorded a new Quinnipiac top-ten time in the same event (58.30).
- In the 800m prelims, junior Ahmetra Davies took fourth overall and recorded a new Quinnipiac top-ten time with a 2:14.22 mark. Meghan Curtin finshed right behind Davies in the same event with a time of 2:20.94. Brooke Hagen recorded a time of 2:14.80 and finished in sixth place to advance to the finals.
- Senior Marlo Wehrer finished in second overall in the 400m hurdles with a time of 1:01.77 and will race in the finals on Sunday. Freshman Caitlyn Halloran finished in seventh in the same event with a time of 1:04.51.
- In the 200m prelims, freshman Aisha Gay finished third overall with a time of 25.65. Botelho took fourth with a time of 25.83.
- Timpson recorded a third place finish in the hammer throw (50.13m).
- Sculling took fifth place in the long jump (5.40m).
- Junior Kelsey Coughlin placed fifth in the pole vault with a 2.80m mark.
- In the javelin throw, senior Emily Dryzgula threw a 40.43m mark, which is new personal best.
