Taylor Herd Named MAAC Women's Basketball Sixth Player of the Year

Tricia Fabbri Earns Fourth MAAC Coach of the Year Honor
ALBANY, N.Y. – Quinnipiac women's basketball junior Taylor Herd (Quakertown, Pa.) has been named the 2018-19 MAAC Women's Basketball Sixth Player of the Year, as announced by the conference on Friday morning during the annual awards show.
Head Coach Tricia Fabbri was also named The Rock MAAC Women's Basketball Coach of the Year for the fourth time in six seasons. Fabbri has now earned seven Coach of the Year awards between the Northeast Conference and the MAAC.
Herd started nine games for the Bobcats, averaging eight points per game while dishing out 1.1 assists. The junior has increased her playing time over the course of her career, going from 3.9 minutes as a freshman, to 16.2 minutes a game in 2017-18, to 22.9 minutes a game this season. Herd's best game of the season came on January 20 at Canisius College, where she put up 21 points on 7-14 shooting while grabbing four rebounds and adding two assists in 27 minutes of action.
Herd becomes the second Quinnipiac player in the last six seasons to win the Sixth Player of the Year award, following former Bobcat and current pro Maria Napolitano, who won the award in 2014-15.
Fabbri, who coached in her 700th career game this season, ranks 47th in wins (430 wins) among all active Division I coaches. Her program is one of 18 programs in Division I to win three or more NCAA Tournament games in the last two seasons, and the only mid-major to accomplish the feat.

Fabbri's Bobcats have reached the 20-win plateau in eight straight seasons, won four conference titles in the last six seasons and earned five consecutive MAAC Regular Season titles. The Bobcats are one of five programs in the nation to have claimed at least a share of the regular season conference title in each the last five seasons.
