Clifton and Toews Continue Scoring in NHL, Anas and Rafferty Lead Way in AHL
HAMDEN, Conn. – Quinnipiac men's ice hockey alumni continue to make their marks in professional hockey as we hit the m
idway point of the second month of the 2019-20 season.
In the NHL, Devon Toews is averaging over 0.50 points per game through the first 19 games of the season with the New York Islanders. Toews has two goals and nine assists for 11 points, with both of his goals coming on the power-play this season. He has posted three assists in the month with a +4 plus/minus rating.
Connor Clifton has scored two goals so far through November with the Boston Bruins, with his first career regular season goal coming at Montreal on Nov. 5 before tallying a goal in his home state of New Jersey at the Devils on Nov. 19. Clifton also was a +3 in Tuesday night's win for the Bruins to raise his season plus/minus rating to +4.
The Bobcats' alumni in the AHL are also having great seasons led by Sam Anas with 13 points in 17 games on four goals and nine assists. Anas had a goal and an assist in his last game against Milwaukee on Nov. 19 and has four points in his last five games.
Brogan Rafferty has been on a tear with points in four of his last six games, including a goal on Saturday, Nov. 16 against Rochester for his second of the season. On the season, Rafferty has nine points with two goals and seven assists as well as a +7 plus/minus rating.
Tanner MacMaster has a three-game point streak dating back to Nov. 9 with a goal and two assists. On the season, MacMaster
is up to eight points in 14 games on three goals and five assists. He's also posted a +3 plus/minus rating.
After missing several games in October, Matthew Peca a goal and four assists for five points over his last seven games with the AHL's Laval Rocket. Peca scored his first goal of the season on Nov. 9 at Cleveland before adding assists over the last two games while Travis St. Denis has also picked up the scoring pace with three points in his last three games, including a two-assist game at Belville. St. Denis has a goal and six assists for seven points in 16 games.
Chase Priskie has eight points in his first 14 AHL games with the Charlotte Checkers while Andrew Shortridge has been made five starts with 122 saves in his five games.
