Bobcats take on the Jaspers with two MAAC games left in season
HAMDEN, Conn. - The Quinnipiac women's soccer team is back in action on Wednesday, Oct. 23 to host the Manhattan Jaspers at 2:30 p.m. The Bobcats are coming off a 1-0 loss to the Iona Gaels, and the Jaspers will come to Hamden after a 1-1 (2OT) tie against Siena.

Last Time Out:
Quinnipiac dropped a road game on Saturday, Oct. 20 to the Iona Gaels, 1-0. Amber Crispin scored the game-winning goal to send the Gaels past the Bobcats. Freshman Meaghan Phillips tallied four saves in the loss, and senior Ally Grunstein led the team with three shots.
Scouting Manhattan:
The Jaspers are currently tied for seventh place in the MAAC with a 2-4-1 record and seven points. Manhattan is coming off a 1-1 (2OT) tie against the Siena Saints. Arianna Montefusco leads the Jaspers with 16 points on seven goals and two assists. Camryn Nici has played in 13 games for the Jaspers between the posts; she has recorded 81 saves with a 1.88 goals against average.
Last Year against the Jaspers:
Quinnipiac holds an all-time record of 3-4-2 against Manhattan. The Bobcats tied the Jaspers last season, 1-1, with junior Hannah Reiter scoring the Bobcats' lone goal.
Underclassmen Leading:
Freshman Olivia Scott now leads the team with nine points on three goals and three assists. She has scored twice in the last two out of four games. Sophomore Selena Salas has recorded eight points on two goals and four assists. Freshman Markela Bejleri has tallied two goals and two assists for six points. Sophomore Emily Loney has scored in three of the last four games, with two game-winning goals.
Phillips in the Net:
Freshman Meaghan Phillips now has five shutouts on the season. She is currently tied with Gwen Miller '93 in the 10th spot for the program's single-season shutout record. Kate Mockaitis '94 and Chloe Beizer '07 hold the program's record with seven shutouts in one season. Phillips has totaled a 0.85 goals against average and 0.817 save percentage, which ranks second and fifth in the conference, respectively.
Loney Lighting it Up:
Sophomore Emily Loney has scored three goals in three of the last four games for Quinnipiac. She tallied the game-winning goal against Fairfield and Saint Peter's to lift the Bobcats over the Stags and Peacocks in each game.
A Look at the MAAC Standings:
The Monmouth Hawks sit at the top of the conference standings with a 8-0 record and is the only unbeaten team in the MAAC. Fairfield holds the second spot with a 5-1-1 record, and Rider sits in third with a 4-1-2 record. Quinnipiac is still in the fourth spot with a 4-4 record, and Marist holds the fifth place position with a 3-3-1 record. Siena is in the middle of the pack with a 2-3-2 record, followed by Niagara, Iona, Manhattan, Canisius, and Saint Peter's. The top six teams will make the playoffs in the 2019 MAAC Championship.
