Bobcats, Jaspers play to a 1-1 tie; Salas scores third of the season

HAMDEN, Conn. – The Quinnipiac women's soccer team tied the Manhattan Jaspers, 1-1, after a full 20-minute overtime period on Wednesday afternoon. Sophomore Selena Salas netted her third goal of the season in the tie. Freshman Olivia Scott added her fourth assist of the season on Salas' goal.

SCORING SUMMARY

First Half

(32' – Manhattan 1, Quinnipiac 0): Manhattan's Arianna Montefusco volleyed a corner into the back of the net; the corner was taken by Tia Painlainen. Montefusco netted her eighth goal of the season.
(43' – Manhattan 1, Quinnipiac 1): The Bobcats evened the score with two minutes remaining in the first half. Freshman Olivia Scott dribbled to the end line and crossed a short ball to sophomore Selena Salas, who finished first-time.

NOTES

Salas record her third goal of the season. She now has 10 points on the season to lead the team alongside Scott who also has 10 points.
The Bobcats recorded 18 shots and the Jaspers tallied 11.
Freshman Meaghan Phillips had four saves in the tie.
Olivia Scott led the team with four shots.
Each team took four corners.
The Jaspers had 11 fouls, and the Bobcats had 10.
The Bobcats sit in fourth place in the conference standings with 13 points. The final game against Siena, along with the results around the MAAC, will determine if the Bobcats make the playoffs.
