ALBANY, N.Y. - The Quinnipiac women's basketball team held Monmouth to only 14 first-half points to break the game open early and take an 83-44 win over Hawks on Friday afternoon in the quarterfinal round of the MAAC Women's Basketball Tournament. The Bobcats, who were led by 19 points from senior guard Carly Fabbri and a double-double from junior forward Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) with 10 points and 11 rebounds, will move on to Sunday's semifinals, when they will take on the winner of tomorrow's Rider-Fairfield quarterfinal game at 11 a.m.

With the victory today, Quinnipiac advances to the MAAC Semifinals for the fifth time since joining the conference prior to the 2013-14 season.
The victory over Monmouth was Quinnipiac's 29th-straight win against a MAAC opponent dating back to last season.

The 39-point victory ties the largest margin of victory in a postseason game in program-history. The Bobcats previously outscored Saint Francis by 39 points in the 2013 NEC Tournament championship game on 3/17/13.
Three players scored in double-figures with Carly Fabbri (Stratford, Connecticut) leading the way with a playoff career-high of 19 points.
Fabbri missed her first shot of the game but went 8-of-9 from the field the rest of the way.
Paula Strautmane (Riga, Latvia) registered her first double-double of the season with 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Strautmane is the first Bobcat to register a double-double in the playoffs since she scored 11 points and grabbed 11 rebounds in Quinnipiac's 85-78 win over Miami in the second round of the 2017 NCAA Tournament.
Of Strautmane's 11 rebounds, eight came on the offensive end.
Jaden Ward (Wisconsin Dells, Wisconsin) added a playoff career-high of 10 points.
Taylor Herd (Quakertown, Pennsylvania) grabbed a career-high seven rebounds.
The Bobcats held the Hawks scoreless for the first 3:38 of the game as Quinnipiac opened the contest with a swift 9-0 run.
After the strong start, Quinnipiac held an 18-9 lead over the Hawks heading into the second quarter.
The Bobcats used the first 3:02 of the second quarter to go on a 9-0 run.
An Aryn McClure layup capped the run and put the Bobcats up 27-9 and forced a Monmouth timeout with 6:43 remaining in the first half.
Out of the timeout, Quinnipiac outscored Monmouth 14-3 in the final 6:10 of the first half to go into halftime with a 41-14 lead.
Four different players scored on the run, with Brittany Martin (Sicklerville, New Jersey) scored six of the Bobcats' 14 points during the run.
Fabbri led all scorers at the half with 13 points of 5-of-7 shooting, including 3-of-4 from beyond the arc.
Quinnipiac outscored Monmouth 16-14 in the third quarter to take a 57-28 lead into the fourth quarter.
