Quinnipiac struggles offensively in second game of Gulf Coast Showcase
ESTERO, Fla. – Despite a strong fourth quarter and points from eight different scorers, Quinnipiac women's basketball could not overcome the effort of the #21/18 nationally-ranked Missouri Tigers on Saturday afternoon. The Bobcats fell 65-51 on day two of the Gulf Coast Showcase, as Mizzou's Sophie Cunningham scored 26 points on the day.

- Quinnipiac only hit four field goals in the first quarter, but three of them were from long range, keeping the deficit close at 17-13.
- Jen Fay's three pointer and jumper in the second quarter were the only field goals that the Bobcats sunk in the period, as the Tigers jumped out to a 15-point halftime lead.
- Both defenses settled in coming out of halftime, as the two teams combined for just 21 points (12-9 Mizzou).
- The Bobcats battled tough in the fourth quarter, posting a 20-16 scoring edge in the frame, and allowing only four Mizzou field goals. Tricia Fabbri's squad came out firing, rattling off nine straight points to cut the lead to 49-40, but wouldn't get any closer as Mizzou's duo of Cunningham and Amber Smith combined for 13 points in the quarter.
- Jen Fay scored 14 points, giving her double-digits in scoring for nine straight games, dating back to last season. The redshirt senior has scored double digits in 13 of her last 14 games overall.
- Quinnipiac recorded its season-high percentage from the free throw line, shooting 76% from the stripe.
- Paula Strautmane blocked two shots in the game, marking the fourth-straight game in which the senior has recorded at least one block. The senior added ten points, five rebounds, and two steals to complete her stat line.
- The Bobcats shot a season low 21.4% from the floor in the loss, the lowest since shooting 21.3% against Manhattan on December 6, 2015.
- Amani Free hit a free throw in the closing seconds of the game to earn her first collegiate point.
